Key Responsibilities:

The Lead Program Manager - Engine Supplier Management is responsible for supervising a supplier-based Engine or APU repair program in a manner that provides maximum operational support at minimum cost in accordance with the engine maintenance contract and in compliance with all maintenance program requirements. This role has extensive cross-functional visibility across engine planning, procurement, finance, engineering, reliability, fleet, quality and is responsible to support Procurement in the development and negotiation of contracts while continuing to lead their assigned outsourced engine vendor program. The Lead Program Manager will mentor and train Program Managers the Outsourced Engine Team. Must billing to travel up to 30% is required.

Engines fleets: CFM56-7, GE90, GEnx, CF6-80, PW2000, PW4000, V2500, Rolls Royce RB211, or APU fleets

Relationship Management Projects and Processes

  • Serve as primary liaison between United and Supplier on the program.

  • Coordinate requests from Maintenance for support or resources from supplier

  • Champion projects to drive cost reduction, address quality, reliability, campaigns or other performance deficiencies, and oversee supplier capacity reviews

  • Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews and annual Aircraft and Propulsion Working Together Team with Key Suppliers, Operators, and partners

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of engine maintenance program, shop procedures, and of current or emerging technical conditions specific to the engine

  • Coordinate with Quality and Engineering to ensure supplier aligning with UA maintenance and commercial guidelines

  • Initiates process for new engine repair supplier setup in coordination with engineering, planning and QA/QC

  • Participate in work scope decisions on each engine with Engineer

Operational Support

  • Ensure that spare engines are available to support operations at all times, per contract allocations and maintenance requirements

  • Take steps to avert or resolve shortages, and alert management of all significant or chronic shortfalls

  • Initiate request for leases per contract

  • Ensure that Engines are picked up, inducted, repaired, and redelivered in accordance with contracts and maintenance requirements, without delay

  • Review engine packages to ensure that work being accomplished is equal to work being requested and paid for, and to verify that material sources, repair-buy decisions, LLP configuration, and other cost drivers are appropriate and beneficial to the program

  • Coordinate with Fleet Management on aircraft inductions and exits to ensure optimal use of engine assets

Budget and Forecast oversight and accountability

  • Support finance team for accurate financial planning and analysis

  • Coordinates supplier invoice and invoice credit processing with VM leadership team, Finance and United AP

  • Audit, analyze and challenge supplemental and CPH invoices

Contract Management

  • Support Procurement in the development and negotiation of contracts

  • Request performance remedies per the contract.

  • Implement contract for routine program management and coordinate with Procurement for contract defaults

Leadership

  • Support the Sr. Manager Outsourced Engine Programs in ensuring Program Managers are meeting objectives for operational support

  • Mentors and guides Program Managers with an emphasis on building internal and external relationships

  • Identifies and provides vital training for Program Managers

  • Acts as a resource for the Engine Vendor Program Team drawing on years of experience in turbine engine repair and processes

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • BS degree or equivalent experience in an aviation, technical or engineering field required

  • Minimum 5-years' experience in turbine engine repair processes & procedures, supply chain management, procurement or contract management

  • Experience working directly with Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney/IAE and / or GE Aviation

  • Experience administrating engine maintenance agreements including cost-per-hour agreements

  • Detailed understanding of jet engine components, and knowledge of jet engine maintenance including overhaul events

  • Ability to read and understand sophisticated contracts

  • Ability to review invoices for accuracy and contractual compliance

  • Ability to convince, persuade and negotiate with suppliers

  • Strong understanding for business

  • Understand technical information

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position

  • MBA, MS, FAA Airframe & Powerplant License

  • A&P Certificate, LEAN Certification, PMP Certification

  • Experience leading teams through indirect influence

  • Process improvement experience

  • Line maintenance training or engine borescope experience

  • SCEPTRE and/or AMIS/EMS experience

  • Project management or planning skills
