Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Medical Collections Specialist in the healthcare, hospitals, and social assistance industry. The position is located in Chicago, Illinois. The role involves handling customer payments and maintaining accurate records within the medical collections function.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately collect payment from customers and record in system

• Regularly communicate with customers/payers to request payment status and arrange payment plans in accordance with policy

• Initiate collections on accounts and balances that are past due

• Collaborate to reconcile accounts receivable on a regular basis

• Send mail correspondence for standard past due accounts and collections, identify delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contact delinquent account holders to request payment

• Verify discrepancies and resolve customer billing questions or concerns

• Schedule follow-up reminders while managing assigned portfolios

• Post adjustments when necessary and within compliance of company policy

• Request records when necessary to help settle past due balances

• Carry out billing, collection, and reporting activities according to specific deadlines

• Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities. Requirements • Proficiency in Accurint and Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)

• Experience in handling medical collections and billing functions

• Knowledge in claim administration and collection processes

• Ability to manage account and invoice discrepancies

• Familiarity with appeals related to medical collections

• Experience as a collector in a healthcare setting
