This job was posted by https://illinoisjoblink.illinois.gov : For more information, please see: https://illinoisjoblink.illinois.gov/jobs/12223801 Description

The University of Chicago\'s Department of Pediatrics seeks a part-time lecturer. The position is renewable but not benefits eligible.

The appointee will develop and teach graduate-level courses during the academic year that fulfill the capstone requirement for master\'s students in the Biological Sciences Division. Students will be exposed to topics related to developing, constructing, implementing, and writing their capstone project. A syllabus from a previous course exists, but the lecturer has flexibility to implement changes as they see fit with the approval of the program director.

Courses run for nine weeks, with the tenth week for a final project or exam. It is preferable that courses meet in the late afternoon/early evening either 1 or 2 days a week for a total of 3 hours, although the exact day(s)/time(s) will be determined in consultation with the Lecturer. The class is offered in-person on the University\'s main campus in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL.

Additionally, the lecturer will also lead and oversee capstone placements for students, manage relationships with faculty mentors and/or industry partners, organize an annual capstone showcase, and potentially serve as the primary advisor for some capstone projects. Other duties include participating in program events (e.g. visit day, orientation).

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a graduate level degree in a relevant field. To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago\'s Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/150228.

Applicants must upload: 1) a cover letter, 2) a curriculum vitae, 3) a proposed syllabus that covers the course topic in sufficient detail, 4) a teaching statement, and 5) names and contact information for three references. Review of applications will end when the position is filled.
