East Bank Club Personal Trainer - Part Time - AM or PM in Chicago, Illinois

The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and inspiring Personal Trainer to join our growing fitness team! Personal trainers assess their clients’ strengths and weaknesses and create customized workout plans. They demonstrate and explain exercises in a clear and efficient way. They provide physical and mental guidance and monitor clients’ progress on a regular basis. Personal trainers offer words of encouragement and motivation throughout every session and provide clients with constant support and constructive feedback. Personal trainers can work with individuals or in small groups. They will administer various fitness tests from blood pressure to Inbody body fat analysis on a regular basis with all clients. They will also keep up with their Fitvue schedule at least 2 weeks in advance.

Shifts:

Mornings 3-4 days/week 6am – 11/12pm

Weekend mornings (either day) 4-5 hours

or

4 nights/week and 2 weekend day:

Weeknights 4pm– 8:30pm

Weekend mornings (either day) 4-5 hours

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Expertly guide and consult with clients to achieve their fitness goals through individualized training plans

  • Evaluate clients’ fitness levels and health conditions (Blood pressure, Inbody)

  • Explain exercises in detail and suggest alternatives if needed

  • Monitor progress of clients’ fitness levels, provide regular feedback and accountability on their progress

  • Provide clients with safe, reasonable exercises that they can perform in the gym/home

  • Give clients ample notice if you need to change appointment times and respond to clients who must change their schedules

  • Maintain computer schedule of clients in Fitvue at least 2 weeks in advance

  • Record late cancel, no call/no show, and management info in computer (as notes)

  • Record clients’ workouts

  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with clients, members and co-workers.

  • Communicate with managers on pertinent scheduling information

  • Ensure that Par Q and client information is obtained and filed appropriately

  • Be aware and informed of departmental programs

  • Enforces all policies and procedures

  • Stay current with fitness trends

  • Conduct teen certification sessions as needed

  • Attend staff in-services and mandatory department team meetings

  • Maintain personal training and CPR/AED certification

  • Attend personal training seminars and conferences to continue education

  • Answer phones in department

  • Answer general members’ questions

Requirements

  • College B.S. degree in a heath or exercise science related major with mandatory coursework in kinesiology, anatomy, and exercise physiology

  • Certification in a nationally recognized personal training organization (ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE)

  • CPR/AED Certified

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to perform exercises and movements as demonstrations for clients

  • Empathetic attitude, able to understand each client’s individual goals, emotions and needs

  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of personality types

  • Enthusiastic/passionate about fitness

  • Previous experience as a personal trainer preferred

  • Available to work flexible hours

  • AM or PM Availability
