Position Purpose

We’re seeking spirited “can do” people to join our Manufacturing team in the exciting world of hazmat compliance. Experience in Engineering of Packaging and Development is preferred. This is a fast paced environment and requires a great attitude, attention to detail, punctuality and great quality control. Your ability to collaborate with others, communicate, and be dependable are all crucial for this job and able to stand for the whole day.

The Principal Engineer of Packaging Development is a cross functional role supporting and leading various packaging related activities. This position will drive department stability and enable high-value output by leveraging innovation, executing optimum solutions, developing strong customer connections, applying advanced solutions, and become a crucial resource for internal teams. From the business side, this role will cover technical aspects during external calls, vendor integration, as well as enhancing the totality tied site needs and other cross-functional demands throughout the Labelmaster organization. He / She will also lead/manage packaging related programs - conceptualization, initiation, commercialization, action tracking and execution.

  1. Essential Functions & Principal Accountabilities

Department stability

  • Lead the entire UN testing process

  • Modernize all Packaging Instructions

  • Manage the NPD process as it relates to packaging

  • Part creation, specification management & web profile buildouts

Quoting/vendor relations/sales support

  • Field customer requests via sales team

  • Improve vendor speed to quote process

  • Automate processes when possible

  • Provide depth to existing portfolio

Department specific

  • Develop product sustainability roadmap – external facing material

  • Develop customer centric solutions through VOC & Sales org. & manage packaging related initiatives tied to such developments

  • Execute sub-tasks tied to new product launches & maintain fluid timelines to achieve sales

  • Gain expertise in EV/hydrogen propulsion packaging

  1. Education/Training/Experience
  • Masters or Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering preferred. Degree in Chemical Engineering &/or Mechanical Engineering with sufficient packaging experience preferred.

  • Technical professional with job experience in their functional area. Technical MBA/PhD with job exp. (general guidelines: 6+ years) Or Technical B.S./ B Tech with 10+ years packaging related experience.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and ability to influence across multiple levels – internally & externally.

  • Solid depth of packaging types/styles, packaging materials and packaging processes.

  • Professional client satisfaction skills needed to maintain positive external and internal relationships.

  • Ability to easily adapt to fluctuations in business cycles and workload.

  • Attention to detail is critical to maintain accuracy and fulfill client expectations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good intercultural competencies

  • Must be able to maintain a calm and professional composure at all times.

  • Passion and enthusiasm for resolving challenging or complex problems.

  • Ability to travel when needed.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – multi-lingual a plus

  • Very good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to read &/or modify technical drawings - SolidWorks/CAD desired, etc.
