Pump Mechanic Job Description

Location: Chicago, IL.

We have a fantastic full time career opportunity for a qualified Pump Mechanic to work at HydroAire 40th & Test Lab (40th Street Chicago, IL. 60609)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Assemble complex assemblies and sub-assemblies from an itemized Bill of Materials.
• Assembling parts that have interference fits through use of heating and cooling the connecting parts.
• Measure and record sizes and clearances to within .001 inch.
• Demonstrate a good working knowledge of assembly and inspection process of the parts used in the assembly of a pump.
• High degree of mechanical aptitude.
• Hands on experience with the ability to read blueprints and assembly drawings.
• Must be able to use, read and comprehend micrometers, calipers, gages, and inspection tooling.
• Capable of performing to established standards.
• Thorough understanding of tooling used to assemble pumps.
• Fully understands the function of the individual components that comprise the pumps.
• Required to document shipping reports for quality assurance approval.
• Document information on a Travelers job requisition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years as a pump mechanic in the pump industry desired.
• Journeyman mechanic or completion of a mechanic apprenticeship is a plus.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• In lieu of having pump industry experience, 3+ years in a similar role that requires tear down and assembly of mechanical parts will be considered.
• Ability to read and follow route sheets/blueprints.
• Team player who collaborates well with other shop personnel.
• Good communication skills both the oral and written form.
• Takes initiative to get the job done correctly.
• Ability to work first or second shift Monday through Friday (2nd shift receives premium pay)
• Willing to work overtime when needed to service our customers.
• Valid work status and authorization is required.
• Ability to successfully meet pre-employment requirements by passing a basic physical exam and drug screen.
