About the Department

The Section of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology provides care for patients and families with acute and chronic medical conditions, or other hematologic diseases, requiring the specialty knowledge and skills of Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation.

Job Summary

The job performs routine assignments related to scientific research projects. Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives, and mandates. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Writes articles, reports, and manuscripts. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific fields.
  • In charge of maintaining a detailed database of the reagents available in the lab.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyzes, maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews and experimental troubleshooting. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts, and other documents.
  • Installs, sets up, and performs experiments, interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

  • A college or university degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or related disciplines.
  • Master\'s degree in a related field.

Experience:

  • Knowledge and skills developed through work experience in a related job discipline, as a lab assistant in a research lab.
  • Author of at least one research article.

Working Conditions

  • Wet lab setting.
