Wolters Kluwer Senior Data Privacy Analyst in Chicago, Illinois

This position will be part of the Global Law and Compliance Department (GLCD), which has responsibility for counseling all Wolters Kluwer businesses globally on a broad range of legal and compliance matters, including privacy and data protection.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Privacy Operations, conducting privacy compliance activities for multiple commercial business units within Wolters Kluwer that operate and sell products and services to business-to-business (B2B) customers globally.

  • Working with the appropriate contacts within commercial business units to conduct and document records of processings and impact assessments, where necessary.

  • Reviewing business activities for alignment with the Wolters Kluwer privacy control framework.

  • Providing guidance to commercial businesses on data protection requirements and best practices in accordance with applicable data protection laws and GLCD guidance.

  • Identifying and escalating potential privacy compliance risks for review by relevant stakeholders.

  • Providing operational support for privacy-related incidents impacting commercial business units, including serving on incident management teams and cooperating with other members of the business and GLCD in the incident response.

  • Implementing or refining roles and responsibilities for privacy champions within the commercial business units in accordance with guidance provided by the Corporate Privacy Office.

  • Coordinating and implementing various privacy initiatives and guidance within the commercial businesses, including relevant policies, procedures, training and awareness.

Minimum Experience:

  • At least 5 years of significant privacy experience, preferably including providing advice to corporate clients on privacy issues, and with implementing policies, procedures, and guidelines to deal with those issues.

  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant privacy statutes, regulations, and guidance in the United States, United Kingdom and the EEA, including the GDPR.

  • Privacy certification preferred

  • Experience driving, prioritizing, and effectively managing cross-functional initiatives, and an ability to both work independently and with large multi-stakeholder teams.

  • Sound and practical business judgment, intellectual creativity, strong ethical compass, and problem-solving skills.

  • A track record of earning the respect of high-performing professionals.

  • Experience operating within an international environment with a diversity of cultures.

  • Excellent spoken and written English.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel may be required from time to time for certain GLCD and privacy-related events (up to 10%).
