Sargent & Lundy Senior Energy Consultant -- Asset Management -- Hybrid in Chicago, Illinois

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You will spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days (Chicago, IL)
Sargent & Lundy is one of the largest and most experienced power industry engineering and consulting firms. This position in Sargent & Lundy’s Consulting group will require you to work on our project teams that Advises utilities, developers, and investors to make informed decisions and actionable conclusions on Asset Management strategies in transmission and distribution electric facilities.
This position is being added to support the continued growth of the Sargent & Lundy Consulting group, particularly in Asset Management for utility planning / advisory practice areas. Our Consulting group works with clients across the United States and in numerous other countries.
This position will require -to-face interaction with public utilities, developers and owners, as well as potentially interfacing with regulatory organizations, during the execution of consulting services work for the firm. The work environment in our Consulting group is fast-paced, dynamic, and interesting.
You will work with multi-discipline project teams to provide a variety of services, such as the following:
Understanding and providing knowledge to our customers on regulations and compliance requirements as they apply to the asset portfolios
Develops multi-year asset management plans incorporating all capital and expense activities for developing the lifecycle activities for the asset classes
Work in assisting the client to determine the portfolio investment prioritization process to aging infrastructure, deliverability, and grid modernization
Provides rate case strategy support including testimony preparation
Prepare economic impact & business case analysis to support Electric infrastructure improvement plans
Gap Analysis and Risk Assessment: Identifying vulnerabilities, enabling effective solutions.
Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 6+ years of experience in electrical engineering design of electric T&D projects. A master’s degree in an engineering discipline or business (e.g., MBA) is a plus. Also required is five or more years of experience in the power industry in one or more of these areas:
Technical knowledge in electric transmission, distribution, and power generation technologies – solar, battery energy storage, wind, and thermal power
Having direct experience in advocacy and stakeholder management, engaging in matters involving Public Utility commissions.
Direct or indirect experience with utility commission regulations, ISO tariffs and FERC EQR reporting
Applicants are encouraged to please highlight, as applicable, relevant coursework/experience pertaining to the following:
Technical report writing.
Multi-discipline teamwork (i.e., design projects, co-ops)
Data analysis and visualization.
Project finance or business acumen.
Conceptual project design.
Construction project management and/or scheduling software knowledge.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Experience in grid modernization deployment for EV infrastructure, Distribution Automation or other T&D assets
Financial modeling of energy infrastructure with an understanding of market protocols
Also important are:
