  • PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT* Under the direction of the General Manager, as member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Grain Merchandising Manager is responsible for merchandising, managing inventories, directing operations of warehouse, and grain origination team. Collaborate trading and shipping with Senior Trader and support the General Manager with all duties and responsibilities. * SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP* Supervises, leads, and develops the assigned direct reports including Grain Administrative Assistants, Grain Warehouse Superintendent, Grain Merchandiser, and Senior Trading Manager, and/or any assigned indirect reports applicable to the department by providing leadership, setting performance expectations, providing feedback, and actively maintaining performance management standards. * ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* Responsible for grain warehouse operations, including inventory quality and condition of facilities. Responsible for the purchasing of grain through elevator. Negotiates with brokers, millers, truckers, terminals, etc. in order to establish cash grain bids and sales prices. Responsible for compliance with CME and other governing regulations related to operating a regular for delivery federally licensed warehouse in Chicago, IL. Lead and develop grain origination, procurement, sales, warehouse, and logistics teams. Assist in management of company, including customer relations, grain operations and accounting. Coordinate grain logistics and dispatch. Responsible for interpreting marketing reports, technical information, and other market data so that appropriate market information and recommendations can be disseminated to customers. Responsible for implementing Safety, Health, and Environmental polices established by leadership and governed by regulation. * OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS* Performs other duties as assigned. Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply. * REQUIREMENTS* Normally requires a college degree, preferably in Ag Economics, Ag Marketing or Agri-Business and three or more years of experience in marketing and commodity trading. Requires a Series III Commodity Brokers License and other appropriate licenses or certifications or the ability to obtain these licenses. Proven knowledge of cooperative philosophies and principles. Proven professional communication, presentation, persuasion, and customer service skills. Must have basic computer skills. Proven planning, organization, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development. Ability to work extended hours, beyond those considered “normal”, during busy time periods. Must be available for meetings during times beyond those considered "normal." Must be willing and able to travel independently and overnight as needed. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Occasionally exposed or required to: * Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.) * Noisy conditions * Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards, requiring utilization of appropriate safety measures * May be required to work at varing heights * Move up to 70 pounds Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
