Actalent Senior Structural Engineer in Chicago, Illinois
Job Title: Lead Structural Engineer
Job Description
Will be reporting to the leadership team and clients on projects updates/timelines/needs.
Work with client to develop project scope/needs and scheduling on projects.
Responsible for the development of structural design calculations, specifications, and oversee the development of structural drawings on projects.
Lead, manage and delegate work to internal project members, geotechnical, architectural and MEP project members to ensure project needs are met and on track towards completion.
Apply ACI, AISC and IBC building codes, PCI & PTI Design Guidelines to the design of foundations, superstructures, and related building components.
Complete on-site review of construction progress, review of testing and inspection reports and development of field reports, development of design and construction affidavits.
Responsible for entering data into a spreadsheet to manipulate, analyze technical data, and review submittals.
Work with Structural Engineers to provide structural research/analysis reports. Mentor junior team members on projects when necessary.
Hard Skills
Bachelor of Civil Engineering, or equivalent is required; Master's is not required
Must have EIT and PE; SE is a plus
10 or more years of post-grad structural engineering experience
Experience working on parking structures is preferred; Commercial, healthcare, industrial, utilities is transferrable
Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD knowledge is required; RISA 3D, ETABS, SP-SLAB, SP-Column, Retain-Pro, PT-Data & PT-Data + beams, girders experience is a plus

Location: The Loop (in-office/flexible per person, but prefers people in office to start). Team Size: 18 people in Chicago office. 3 teams: Architects (New Design), Restoration, and Studies/Research team. Hours: 8:30-5pm (flexible if people need to come in earlier to leave early or vice versa). Will be provided with desktop computer, but also has laptops for people if they need to borrow when traveling. Projects located all throughout the US - none in Chicago currently.
