The Staff Building Automation Engineer will participate on both multi-disciplinary and controls-specific engineering teams to develop and review Building Automation Engineering design packages, perform calculations and develop engineering solutions in support of capital and retrofit projects in a variety of locations. Work duties can consist of any of the following depending on client, project, and consultant role:
Assists in development of design drawings and specifications for design of primarily HVAC control systems and EPMS, for both PLC-based systems and DDC-based systems (System is client-specific)
Coordinate with mechanical and electrical design teams to develop Sequences of Operations and Point Lists for HVAC control and electrical monitoring of equipment and systems
Create engineering drawings for control panel and field wiring designs including installation details, bill of material, and P&IDs
Manage quality reviews of project submittals.
Evaluate technical bids and managing vendor and subconsultant contracts
Review and approving of vendor and subconsultant drawings, including Sequences of Operation, Points Lists, Engineering Drawings, Bill of Materials, Graphics, and Test Scripts
Participate in Software Bench Tests, Software Factory Acceptance Tests, and Equipment Factory Witness Tests
Provide technical assistance during commissioning at project site.
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
Facilitate multi-consultant and Owner meetings for design changes and implementation
Lead production of engineering drawings using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD Electrical, or ePlan
Supports RFI responses and associated work plans
Ensures adherence to client and industry standards and applies client or industry standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures in preparing designs.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
Master of Science degree in above Engineering programs or related may be substituted for 1 year experience.
PE license preferred in Mechanical or Instrumentation & Controls
Minimum 2 years of either Building Automation System (BAS) or mechanical HVAC engineering experience
Ability to interface, mentor and collaborate effectively with your team members
Demonstrated ability to work in a team
Strong organization, delegation, presentation and communication (both written and verbal) skills
Proficient with business and engineering applications.
Proficent in Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit and drawing production from Revit is preferred
