[POSITION SUMMARY [Under the general supervision of the [Chief Physical Therapist the staff Physical Therapist assumes responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients and provides physical therapy evaluations, modalities, and treatments in accordance with established hospital, joint commission and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care. [The staff Physical Therapist also assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of those patients being treated by Physical Therapist Assistants and may be assigned to orient staff and students and to assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual. *[POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}* 1. Accurately assesses patients needs. 2. Identifies and initiates appropriate physical therapy interventions; provides patient and family teaching. 3. Works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional physical therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork. 4. Performs functions according to hospital policy in accordance with the mission and vision of the hospital and consistent with the philosophy of the department. 5. Participates in performance improvement and program development activities. 6. Contributing to cost effectiveness of services and programs provided by the department. 7. Communicates the employees observations and suggestions related to opportunities for improvement. 8. Maintains positive relations with all customers. 9. Provides patient care services to patients of all ages from neonate to geriatric including. 10. Performs patient assessment. 11. Establishes plan of care. 12. Assesses the effectiveness of treatment and modifies treatment to achieve goals. 13. Provides care in accordance with physician's orders and established plan of care. 14. Assesses educational needs of the patient, family, caregiver or significant other and provides required education. 15. Communicates with patient, family, caregivers, significant other, and members of the healthcare team to promote maximum benefit of care. 16. Performs other work related duties.
