Job Overview The University of Cincinnati is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fabrication Lab Technician 3 to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing our advanced manufacturing capabilities, predominantly metal additive manufacturing, focusing on process optimization, technology integration, research support, maintaining and operating equipment, and managing space and equipment access. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, innovation, and collaboration to support our cutting-edge manufacturing initiatives and educational programs. Essential Functions Provide consultative support for metal and polymer build requests from internal and external clients in consideration of fabrication equipment capabilities and overall feasibility of the r quest. Advise and assist users with alterations in design to increase efficiency or aid in fabrication. Manage multiple projects of moderate to advanced scope and complexity, from the pre-processing phase through the post-processing phase. May process associated billing transactions. Conduct routine maintenance of the metal and polymer additive manufacturing equipment. Maintain cleanliness and safety standards of equipment and facility. Develop, maintain, and enforce standard operating procedures in compliance with OSHA and EHS policies. Train users on appropriate policies and procedures. Develop and provide hands-on experiential learning opportunities that maximize user's knowledge of relevant materials, processes, and technologies. Maintain inventory of related consumables for the metal and polymer fabrication processes. May submit purchase orders to replenish materials. Advise on the installation, configuration, and modification of metal and polymer additive equipment. Support fabrication related coursework and programming of the college's faculty. Support funded research projects involving materials, processes, parameters, and parts development. Provide custom design or fabrication services to fulfill the college's needs. Stay abreast of relevant metal and polymer additive technologies and upcoming trends. May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Required Education Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Design, or related field. Eight (8) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. Required Experience Four (4) years of experience in specific areas of manual or digital fabrication. Minimum two (2) years in a fabrication setting managing diverse fabrication tasks. Ability to lead and train others while managing production queues. Additional Qualifications Considered Master's de
