The RN Staffing Specialist assists the RN Staffing Supervisor with the daily operations of the UC Health Central Staffing Office. They work with Nursing Leadership, Nursing House Supervisor team, and Staffing Coordinators to ensure the staffing schedules are aligned appropriately for current and upcoming shifts in the various divisions and campuses. The RN Staffing Specialist is a key liaison with the Agency Staffing team for UC Health and assists with determining appropriate levels and placement of inpatient agency staff. The RN Staffing Specialist assists staffing coordinators and senior staffing coordinators as needed, is a super-user of the electronic scheduling system, and assists with balancing schedules to maximize capacity and throughput, while ensuring it is completed in the most efficient manner possible. This role is a department advocate for clinical quality and safety and can represent the clinician experience in decisions being made.Minimum Required: Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Master's of Science in Nursing. | Required: Registered Nurse (RN) license. | Prior clinical practice (bedside care) experience and 3-5 Years of previous staffing coordination responsibility required. 1-3 Years Supervisory experience strongly preferred.Reviews agency profile submissions for appropriate placement at UC Health to meet the needs of the clinical manager requests for staffing. Manages agency communications in a timely manner. Assists the System RN Staffing Supervisor with the overall management of UC Health Central Staffing Office Coordinators, including schedules, replacing call offs (including covering gaps at the desk), orientation of new staffing coordinators, and general process improvement. Assists with the unit based scheduling committees to assist and offer support in the development of unit schedules in accordance with union contracts and staffing policies. Assists with ensuring the inpatient division schedules are smoothed throughout the schedule build process. Assists RN Staffing Supervisor by using clinical judgement skills and experiential knowledge to forecast potential gaps in staffing and take steps to prevent gap from occurring (including working with nursing leaders to maintain accurate position controls). Work with department director on projects and process improvement. Assists RN Staffing Supervisor with electronic scheduling and time management system concerns, ensuring staff and leaders have access to appropriate resources.
