Job Summary: The Master CNC Machinist is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high precision parts. This role requires extensive knowledge of machining processes, materials, tooling and CNC operation. Programming FANUC and Mazak controls knowledge preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to mentor junior machinists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and program CNC machines (mills, lathes, and other equipment) to produce precision parts according to technical drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD models to create accurate machining programs.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials to optimize production efficiency and part quality.
  • Perform machine setups, including fixture installation, tool changes, and offsets/adjustments.
  • Conduct trial runs, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional standards.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain and update CNC programs, setup sheets, and related documentation.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production planners, and quality control personnel to resolve machining issues and improve processes.
  • Train and mentor junior machinists, providing guidance on best practices and techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years experience as a CNC machinist, with demonstrated expertise in program changes, setup, and organization.
  • Proficiency in G-code programming and CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Solidworks, AutoCAD) is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of machining processes, materials, tooling, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
