Strobel Energy Group LLC Ironworker in Clarks, Nebraska

This is a traveling role for various projects with Strobel Energy Group

Responsible for laying out and fabricating structural steel and sheet metal in order to build metal structures. Welds and cuts steel, interprets blueprints, and works with concrete reinforcing steel bars.

Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

  • Build and install iron or steel girders, columns, and other construction materials to form buildings, bridges, and other structures.

  • Cut, position, and bolt down steel bars to reinforce concrete.

  • Repair older infrastructure.

  • Make, weld, and cut structural metal in fabricating shops.

  • Erect steel frames.

  • Direct operation of cranes to move structural steel, reinforcing bars, and other materials onto and around the construction site.

  • Connect steel columns, beams and girders.

  • Drill holes into steel for bolts.

  • Number steel according to assembly instructions.

  • Unload and stack steel.

  • Attach cables to steel and to the crane.

  • Hoist steel into place in the frameworks.

  • Position steel with connecting bars and spud wrenches.

  • Work with driftpins to align the holes in the steel with the framework holes.

  • Use plumb bobs, levels, and laser equipment to check alignment.

  • Bolt or weld piece into place.

  • Set reinforcing bars into forms to hold concrete.

  • Fasten bars together with wire.

  • Place spacers under rebar to lift bars off deck.

  • Cut bars with metal shears and torches.

  • Reinforce concrete with welded wire fabric.

  • Substitute cables for rebar.

  • Tighten cables with jacking equipment.

  • Make sure all pieces are fitted properly and complete repairs as necessary.

    Requirements:

  • Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance experience.

  • Ability to read prints and construction drawings.

  • Must understand how to read and interpret technical manuals in order to determine work procedures such as ISO’s and blueprints

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturers manuals and instructions.

  • Must have 4+ years’ experience with pipe fitting processes.

  • Ability to take detailed instruction.

  • Positive “can do” attitude, strong work ethic and a team player.

  • Good problem solving abilities, communication skills, aptitude and manual dexterity.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Must be able to read & understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings.

  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices.

  • Ability to use Oxy/fuel & Plasma hand cutting torch.

  • Daily housekeeping of shop and/or work area.

  • Flexible working schedule to support project needs.

  • Must have Journeyman Pipe Fitter

    Considered a Plus:

  • Pipe fitting experience with ASME B31.3, B31.4 and API 1104 codes.

  • Welding and/or tacking experience using GTAW process.

  • Fit-up & layout experience on structural/misc. steel.

  • Familiarity with weld inspections, inspection documentation and NDE (RT, UT, MT, PT).

  • Working knowledge of shop travelers for pressure vessels (ASME VIII–Div. 1) fabrication.

  • NCCER Certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter.

  • Formal/technical education.
