AVP, Loan Coordinator Manager (Specialized Lending)

Job Description:

Summary:

Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Loan Coordinators. Oversees and manages the integrity of the data input, supports the Relationship Managers and serves as a liaison with Central Support, including HR, Compliance, Credit and Finance. The LC Manager is a strategic partner with leadership in identifying and developing process and procedural efficiencies within the department. They LC Manager will be the final authority for questions regarding process and procedural questions within the loan process. This position is the driver of consistency within their team and partners with their Team Lead or Sr. Loan Coordinators to maintain a seamless onboarding process and training platform. This role oversees each associate’s progression within their team and provides/recommends additional training when needed. The LC Manager is responsible for performance management for the team, including providing ongoing feedback, development plans and corrective actions.

The LC Manager will also have, to an extent, the responsibilities of a Sr. Loan Coordinator which is summarized as follows. Responsible for the data integrity of customer and loan information as it is populated within loan applications and product packages. They are the primary associate that works alongside the Relationship Manager (RM), in a collaborative fashion in the generation of new loan requests, renewals, modifications or other customer requests within the Bank’s loan origination system. These loan requests will primarily be the more complex relationships and include loans from the Bank’s niche lending groups. They will act as the primary liaison between other supporting departments within the Bank such as, Compliance, Deposit Operations, Loan Documentation, Loan Servicing and Post Closing Review. Additionally, they will develop strong working relationships with the Bank’s external customer base, as well as with third party vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Market Leaders, Credit Administration, Loan Operations and Relationship Managers to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and outstanding service.

  • Provides leadership and support to Loan Coordinators. Responsible for ongoing coaching, performance, training, development and onboarding of Loan Coordinators.

  • Monitors daily tasks, operations and quality control; ensures the organization of assigned areas of the department, and coordination of available resources (e.g., staff, materials, etc.) for maximum results.

  • Manages the daily activities of the Loan Coordinators including, but not limited to, effective delegation of assignments, developing work schedules and providing standardized training and functional requirements with Loan Coordinators.

  • Acts as liaison between Loan Coordinator and RMs to ensure cohesive working relationships.

  • Assumes responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members or in overload situations.

  • Maintains advanced knowledge and awareness of financial industry trends, such as, laws and regulatory updates and bulletins. Attends trade association meetings and networks with colleagues and industry experts.

  • Accepts and completes projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Task oriented with the ability to set broad goals and work independently to complete projects and priorities by established deadlines.

  • Strong knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and Bank accounting policies and procedures.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training for employees using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills.

  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, read, analyze and interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to customers and associates.

  • Ability to work independently while performing duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Loan Coordinators

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Minimum ten years’ experience working within the commercial loan process, which may include commercial loan documentation, commercial loan administration or as a commercial loan coordinator

  • Prior management experience within a loan support capacity, preferably within the consumer and/or commercial lending product lines.

  • Prior experience working within the consumer lending product line; including residential mortgages, HELOCs, auto and unsecured loans.

  • Strong knowledge of attorney prepared documentation.
