Electrical Technician

Job Description

Actalent is seeking an electrical engineering technician to support a contractor at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC). This full-time position is based on-site and involves working primarily on first shift (7:30-3:30pm). Key responsibilities include upgrading and replacing PLC controls and distributed control systems (not programming or manipulating them, but reading them for troubleshooting), pulling wire through conduits and holes, installing brackets, hangers, and electrical equipment, and testing and repairing circuits and equipment. The selected candidate will also be expected to give advice on the installation, operation, and maintenance of complex equipment, and operate equipment in the central process system.

Hard Skills

  • Associates degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Tech OR Journeyman certification

  • Experience with industrial electrical wiring

  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to plan wiring layouts.

  • Testing and troubleshooting of PLCs

  • Plus: experience with piping, valves, pumps, etc.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Cleveland, Ohio.

Work Environment

This role involves extensive training on the first shift (7a- 3:30p + OT), after which the selected candidate may be asked to work on the first or second shift (2nd 3-11pm) depending on the need. Openness to working on the third shift is highly appreciated. The work environment is consistent with a plant environment involving a variety of tools and processes, and frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. The selected candidate will join a team of 17 people supporting air systems for NASA research projects. PPE, including steel toes, is required, but hats, goggles, and other equipment will be provided.
