REHABILITATION PSYCHOLOGIST

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) in The MetroHealth System (MHS) is seeking a Rehabilitation or Health Psychologist with interest and training in the evaluation and management of adults with acquired neurological and musculoskeletal conditions or injuries including chronic pain. The psychologist will provide evidence-based psychological evaluation and treatment services to patients following various neurological or musculoskeletal conditions or injuries (e.g., TBI, concussion, stroke, neurodegenerative disease, amputation, burn injury, spinal cord injury). A portion of the role will serve patients with chronic pain conditions via assessment of risk for opioid misuse and pre-surgical/implantable device evaluations, as well as psychological treatment for pain management. The psychologist will also support inpatient coverage as needed through our consultation liaison and rehabilitation services. Academic opportunities include protected research time for qualified candidates, and teaching medical students, interns, residents, and fellows in the Department of PM&R and Department of Psychiatry.

The psychologist will join our team of 5 faculty members within the Division of Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology and serve as an integral member of our multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams for acquired brain injury, amputation, burn injury, spinal cord injury, and within our Pain and Healing Center which provides advanced technologies and treatment for pain such as therapeutic injections and electrical stimulation.

Qualified applicants will have a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA/CPA accredited program and have completed an APA/CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship program. Preferred applicants will have pre-doctoral training in rehabilitation or health psychology, including experience working with acquired neurologic and musculoskeletal injuries/conditions and chronic pain in an interdisciplinary team model. Post-doctoral fellowship training in a health care or rehabilitation setting is preferred, but all candidates with interest and experience are encouraged to apply.
