Cleveland Clinic's Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute, recognized worldwide for excellence in patient care, teaching and research, merges the urology and kidney medicine programs. This consolidation of disciplines allows us to better serve patients in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease while we continue to provide high-quality patient care and carry on innovative research in all aspects of urology.
A caregiver in this position works 7:00am/8:00am - 4:30pm/5:30pm. No weekends, holidays or on-call requirements!
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Administers medication and treatments to specific patient population as ordered.
Assesses educational needs of patients and significant others considering cultural needs and other special concerns. Provides teaching and educational material to the patient and/or significant other. Documents patient and family understanding of teaching.
Assists with equipment preparation and/or procedures / infusions/exams, within scope of practice.
Delegates appropriate components of nursing care to other members of the care team within guidelines of the Ohio Board of Nursing.
Participates in unit based Shared Governance, continuous improvement activities and quality initiatives
Provides professional nursing care to specific patient population. Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care where applicable.
Triages and documents patient phone calls and My Chart messages. Informs provider of advice and/or education provided to the patient/family.
Utilizes the nursing process to complete & document patient assessments, develop and implement a plan of care and evaluate patient's response.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
One year of recent experience as an RN.
If current Cleveland Clinic Caregiver in ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting transferring into a RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting will consider current LPN, Medical Assistant, and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience (e.g. Dialysis Tech., Ambulatory CT., in lieu of RN experience, or if current Cleveland Clinic Caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area as ambulatory area transferring into will consider current LPN, Medical Assistant, and /or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience(Dialysis Tech. , Ambulatory CT., Inpatient PCNA, inpatient C.T., Inpatient LPN, in lieu of RN experience. Current demonstrated clinical competence.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- In areas performing moderate sedation procedures and/or cardiac stress testing, must have current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification within 6 months of hire.

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
