ASM Global Security Supervisor - Huntington Convention Ctr of Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio

Summary:

ASM Global is recruiting for two positions, for the first and second shifts at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.

The Security Supervisor ensures effective operations of the Security department at the connected campus for the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. This position assists the Security Manager and Assistant Security Managers with the supervision and training of employees, operations and asset protections, and coordinating the security department for the safety of the HCCC, its employees, clients, guests, and exhibitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise Security Officers and/or Guest Service Representatives assigned for shift.

  • Prepare for and conduct shift change -- ensuring the Security Team is aware of events or business needs, their assigned post, and job duties.

  • Coordinate security activities and information with the Security Manager and Assistant Manager.

  • Train new employees on post assignments and general security expectations.

  • Ensure the safety and security of the building and its attendants.

  • Perform and assign routine walks of the facility perimeter inside and out.

  • Identify potential hazards and respond accordingly as well as inform appropriate staff.

  • Write and review daily logs, camera operations, and video.

  • Investigate, document and report accidents and incidents.

  • Respond to emergency situations as applicable and/or as requested, which may include but not be limited to obtaining and utilizing fire extinguishers, performing CPR, close doors in emergency situations, remove obstructions, from doorways or restricted areas, setting panic alarm.

  • Monitor Security Officer activities at assigned posts, and verify post log books for accuracy.

  • Provide ongoing training to Security Officers and document such training activities.

  • Complete and compile employees' attendance forms as needed and submit appropriate and accurate documentation to Security Manager.

  • Assist with schedule communication to ensure adequate security coverage as needed and/or requested.

  • Monitor the command center systems including but not limited to camera review, access control systems and fire/life safety systems.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • 1-2 years' experience working in security

  • 1-year security supervisory experience in a similar environment preferred

  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment

  • Maintain a valid drivers’ license or have willingness and ability to obtain for required equipment operation

  • OPOTA Certification beneficial but not required

  • CPR, First Aid, AED (obtain and maintain through employment as necessary)

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluent in English language and ability to interact well with all levels of staff, client and the public in-person, via written communication, or via radio communication.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills – must display utmost customer service to all clients, guests, and employees.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as necessary regarding the Company, employees, events, clients and all related matters regarding such parties.

  • Must have excellent critical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and address the most critical and pressing demands first.

  • Successfully perform different tasks at once and comfortably switch gears at a moment’s notice.

  • Ability to clearly instruct others on processes and follow-up, as necessary.

  • Ability to work and function both independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to perform duties efficiently under emergency conditions, and to make firm decisions during emergency

  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills: accuracy is essential.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate motorized vehicles.

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, which could include overtime, evenings/nights, holidays, weekends, or emergency call-in services as dictated by business need or event activity.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Surveillance (CCTV) skills beneficial

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

This position requires the duties be completed in both indoor and outdoor environments ranging from both quiet and noisy atmospheres. This position is exposed to outside weather conditions and temperature changes, adverse weather conditions, dust, dirt, cleaning agent odors, heavy crowds of people, and other working conditions expected within a public forum. Position is exposed to moderate to high noise levels and bright and/or flashing lights along with limited exposure to airborne inhalants such as vehicular exhaust, dust and/or cleaning solutions while performing duties.

While performing the duties of this job, the position may also require:

  • Personal mobility around all areas of the facility, climbing stairs or ladders, working from various heights, walking on ice or slippery surfaces, bending, stooping, kneeling occasionally

  • Standing or sitting for sustained amounts of time.

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling items of at least 75 pounds and/or strenuous working conditions

  • Manual dexterity, good vision, balance and steadiness of the arm and hand for equipment operation.

  • Vision, hearing and speech frequently used or communications and speaking, judging distances, reading signs, listening to others in a public forum or noisy atmosphere.

  • Work hours are based on facility or event needs; hours vary by business or event needs and may include irregular, extended hours including weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays.
