Major Duties and Responsibilities :
The Crisis Recovery Peer Advocate provides mobile (on-site or in-community) peer support services to children, adults, and families who are or have recently experienced an acute crisis. The Crisis Recovery Peer Advocate provides a wide range of non-clinical crisis support to individuals who are experiencing an escalation in behavioral health symptoms and assists individuals in navigating their own recovery process. Activities performed by the Crisis Recovery Peer Advocate include but are not limited to providing individual advocacy, empowerment, recovery support services, prevention, outreach, engagement, hospital diversion, information and referral, self-help, safety/crisis planning, planning for the prevention of setbacks, assisting in the development of psychiatric advance directives, relaxation, resource brokering, as well as health and wellness coaching.
Must Have Qualifications:
Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent
Valid NYS Drivers’ License
Lived experience - your own struggles or have supported / cared for someone facing mental health or substance recovery challenges
Willing to participate in peer certification training, acquiring CRPA-P no later than 4 months after employment.
Nice to Have Qualifications :
Certified Peer Support Specialist (NYCPS) trained by OMH or OASAS
Certified Peer Advocate (CRPA)
Compensation:
Our pay structure includes the following components:
Hourly Base Pay : $16 - $16.74 an hour.
Community Crisis Stipend : In addition to your base pay, you will receive a stipend for handling community crisis situations. This stipend recognizes the critical role you play in providing immediate support during urgent circumstances.
Shift Differential : Additional compensation may apply for evening shifts.
Job Requirements:
Duties
Collaborate with other crisis staff through the triage and screening process.
Completes evaluations and assessments in collaboration with other staff and collaterals.
Utilize RHIO, PSYCKES, and other relevant databases to inform assessment and service planning.
Develop and implement person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed individualized service plans.
Provides crisis counseling, psychoeducation, and de-escalation to remediate crisis symptoms and concerns.
Deliver comprehensive therapeutic interventions that are strength-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed through various modalities, including individual, group, and family counseling both on-site and in-community.
Provides ongoing observation of individuals receiving services.
Collaborate with identified collaterals, including other care providers, family, and friends, to support the individual’s recovery process.
Create wellness and safety plans in collaboration with the individual being served and identified collaterals.
Engages in aftercare planning with collaterals and the individual receiving services to create discharge/transition plans.
Provides referrals to higher levels of care when clinically indicated.
Provide referrals and linkages to community resources to address social determinants of health, physical health, and behavioral health needs.
Participation in on-call rotation.
Adhere to FLACRA's mission, vision, brand pledge, and shared values.
Attend general, staff, in-service, and supervisory meetings held by FLACRA.
Maintain professional licensing or certification requirements.
Maintain driver’s license and insurance.
Maintain positive and effective relationships with community groups, referral sources, and service agencies.
Demonstrate teamwork and an ability to work in a team environment with coworkers and supervisors.
Respond appropriately to crisis/emergencies to ensure/secure the safety/well-being of individuals.
Adhere to FLACRA, OASAS, and OMH documentation standards.
Demonstrates professionalism by providing quality service and care with respect and dignity for the clients and as a representative of FLACRA.
