Job Description
This candidate is responsible for providing technical support associated with all network communications aspects
of the manufacturing plants. This individual must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication
skills. Areas of support include technology in the LAN, WAN, SDWAN, VPN, hardware associated with the
infrastructure (physical layer - cabling, switches, routers, access points, firewalls). This position will work closely
with different Plant operations engineers and IT teams to provide support for network services.
Candidates will be installing Cisco Meraki switches and Palo Alto firewalls as well as cross training with convergent
server virtualization technologies running on VMware based hardware. The project will to deliver these technologies to manufacturing plants worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Provides daily first tier support for all networking issues.
- Meraki Switches, Palo Alto Firewalls
- Cable/wiring issues
- Monitors the health of all systems under the area of responsibility.
- Analyzes and troubleshoots problems, escalates or re-routes issues to higher qualified experts.
- Assists in the designs and implementations of networking solutions.
- Site assessments for upgrades of manufacturing networks
- Identifies opportunities to improve and use new ideas and networking technologies to meet or exceed business objectives.
- Manages vendor relationships as it depends on daily operational needs.
Skills, Qualifications, Technical Knowledge
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred
- 3 + years of experience in an operational support role in manufacturing environments with geographically dispersed locations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization and planning skills
- strong interpersonal / relationship management skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Working experience with Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto firewalls, long range Ethernet, fiber connectivity, SD WAN and VMware solutions are a benefit to the candidate
- Prior use of Meraki Systems Manager, Solar Winds and Palo Alto Panorama management suites is preferred
- Experience with support of multi-site, high-availability networking solutions Cisco, VMware, Windows Server/Hyper-V or related industry certifications desired
