Location: Cold Spring, MN Department: Marketing Supervisor: Mary Crosby Job Summary: The Memorial Designer/ Analyst is responsible for the creation of portraits, graphics, illustrations and design files for production needs (both internal fabrication and purchased products), reference materials and renderings for use in the Personal Reflections design tool and internally with the Design Department. Designs must be completed with a high degree of accuracy regarding placement, detail, grammar, or specific requests. These tasks demand artistic talent, strong understanding of design, portrait, scenic and drawing elements. This position will work closely with the Online Services Product Manager, Support, and Development teams to assist in proactive development of the online design tools to further improve the offering and automate internal processes, by coordinating development and testing as part of the project team. A strong understanding and/or willingness to learn additional design/CAD tools to further support this effort in imperative. This position demands that the designer be able to independently make quick decisions and possess good communication skills and. The designer will use a computer for the use of image and design software to effectively and efficiently produce artwork; therefore an advanced level of computer skill is required. Duties: Prepares drawings, illustrations, and graphics for bronze and granite memorials or projects using existing designs, specific references from customers and/or creation from scratch at an advanced level Understands use of colors and shadows for photographs Has the ability to draw and has an eye for a balanced layout Understands how to adjust photos and other files in Photoshop or similar software Reads and interpret rubbings, drawings, or electronic files provided by customers Creates, revises and modifies illustrations and designs for Pre-Sales concept renderings Prepares or assists in the production of technical illustrations for detailed projects or products Ensures proper communication with internal/external customers in regards to specific graphics, proofing text, corrections, confirmation of sizes, colors, and textures and receipt of approvals to meet customer requests and expectations Confers with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements Assists in compiling detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs Studies existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiven
