National Archives and Records Administration IT Specialist in College Park, Maryland

Summary This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. This position is located in the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Office of Information Services (I), Quality Assurance Division (IQ). IQ is responsible for NARA Configuration Management, Release and Deployment activities as well as test planning, analysis, and management of all testing, monitoring, and guidance within the Information Services office. Responsibilities As an IT Specialist, you will: Determine the scope of test automation; select and use the right tools for automation; set up the test environment; document test plans, test designs, and test strategies; design automation frameworks; use programming skills to develop, and execute automated tests by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically by employing different automation techniques to meet the testing goals; maximizing test coverage for the most critical features of the system. Analyze and generate test reports from execution of automated tests; maintain the automated scripts as changes are made to the application under test. Be responsible for conducting performance testing to analyze performance, verify system scalability, efficiency and reliability by designing, developing and executing performance test scripts. Be responsible for analyzing the underlying causes of performance issues and providing corrective action and creating a performance test summary report for management review. Participate in reviews of testing procedures and practices to ensure that documented procedures and policies are followed. Be responsible for development and execution of manual acceptance tests and for identifying any formal testing standards and ensuring adherence. Requirements Conditions of Employment The education or experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience developing a Quality Assurance (QA) framework plan and test artifacts to perform the different stages of software testing; AND Experience with hands-on manual testing using Agile software testing methodology to validate and monitor software; AND Experience with automation testing; AND In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. 1. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
