Description

Primary Responsibilities:

Benefits Administration:

Administer and manage employee benefits programs such as health insurance, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, retirement plans (401(k)), disability insurance, etc.

Process enrollments, changes, and terminations in benefit plans.

Coordinate annual open enrollment periods and assist employees in understanding their benefits options.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with federal and state laws related to employee benefits, such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), COBRA, ERISA, and HIPAA.

Prepare and file required legal and regulatory reports (e.g., Form 5500).

Employee Communication and Support:

Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefits-related inquiries.

Conduct employee orientations and benefits presentations to explain available benefits.

Resolve employee issues and concerns about their benefit coverage or claims.

Vendor Management:

Liaise with benefits vendors, insurance companies, and third-party administrators.

Negotiate with service providers to obtain the best value for the organization.

Monitor the performance of benefits programs and vendors to ensure quality service.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze and report on benefits usage, costs, and trends.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee benefits data in the HRIS (Human Resource Information System).

Assist in forecasting benefits costs and budgeting for future years.

Policy Development:

Help develop and update employee benefits policies and procedures.

Recommend improvements to existing benefits programs based on employee feedback and industry trends.

Requirements

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in Benefits

• Associate Degree in Business or equivalent experience a plus

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Self-starter with extensive knowledge of employee benefits, including all federal, state and local regulations

• Prior experience working with a broker and providing cost analysis

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret and communicate data

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

• Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with senior management

• Thorough knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA requirements
