Space Object Custody and Risk Analyst Job Summary The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.

Work Model This position will require onsite support for a minimum of 3 days in either El Segundo, CA, Chantilly, VA, or Colorado Springs, CO with partial remote work options.

What You'll Be Doing As a member of the Space Object Custody and Risk Team, you will be providing technical capabilities to support our customers and address the challenges of space situational awareness and space traffic management in the congested space environment. In this role, you will:

Contribute to a variety of projects involving technical analyses and software development relating to multiple focus areas of the section, including space domain awareness, space traffic management, operational launch collision avoidance support, and risk assessment and mitigation due to interference from RF, light, and laser effects.

Support real-time operations and analyses including launch and on-orbit collision risk assessments.

Conduct technical deep dives, trade studies, and assessments both independently and in teams with multi-disciplinary technical leaders, Aerospace Program Office personnel, and external customers to define and address customer needs.

Develop and present timely and technically accurate briefings and reports that clearly communicate analysis results and provide recommended solutions to technical leads, management, and customers.

Travel occasionally (as necessary) to support customer efforts.

What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements for Associate Member of Technical Staff:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university programin Aerospace engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline (Pursuing or conferred within the last 12 months)

0 to 1 years of professional postgraduate experience

Organizational skills, to include:

Self-management of multiple tasks, deadlines, and deliverables

Ability to take direction, work independently, and develop productive working relationships

Aptitude with astrodynamics and related mathematics

Skills in mathematical formulation and derivation

Demonstrated skills in the development and use of computer software tools

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
