Job Description:

The Reliability and Metrology Labs at Microchip in Colorado Springs is looking for a college intern to assist the engineers and technicians as needed with qualification and calibration related activities. You will work on-site at our Colorado Springs facility throughout the year, in accordance with your college schedule each semester until your graduation date.

As part of the departments' efforts, you will assist the engineering teams tasked with supporting the site's equipment calibration activities and the qualification development of new Microchip products -- which influences our overall production and development progress. This position is an individual contributor role working in a small team of engineering staff who will mentor and support your technical growth. Anticipate Job Responsibilities: Assist engineering working with new product development teams coordinating activities to meet scheduled qualification and calibration due dates -- possibly performing some die / package level reliability testing on Microchip devices, including data collection / recording and reporting. Data form collation, database entry, report generation, and organizational activities -- with opportunities for programming and / or scripting possible. Assist with monitoring / maintaining qualification equipment to include data collection and coordination with the metrology (calibration) lab and facilities Support specification / procedure generation & auditing in assistance to the lab's continuous review /improvement activities. Possible opportunities to assist with equipment preventative maintenance, qualification program creation, and database scripting. Opportunities to learn / apply: schematic review, soldering & board repair, and use of test /measurement equipment

Requirements/Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited University/College Minimum High School diploma or GED/Equivalent. Understanding the fundamentals of transistor level integrated circuits and device physics is beneficial. Experience reading board schematics, prints/ drawings and bond layouts, using CAD, and designing/reviewing PCB hardware is a plus. Experience with LabVIEW, C/C++, SQL scripting is beneficial. Able to use Microsoft 365 applications and other office programs / tools. Experience in a classroom lab or working / interning in a research lab is a plus. Lab skills with assorted test/measurement equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, power supply, ource meter, function generator, network analyzer, etc.) are val Expected to read and follow specifications / test methods as needed. Experience with production, test, and/or qualification equipment is a plus. Self-motivated /self-directed but responsive to directions and requirements. Effective in a team, taking initiative to help others and contributing to the team's success. Focus on high quality in work performance and accountability in results. Able to be flexible to multi-task in projects / tasks in both labs as necessary. Good written and verbal communication skills, both interpersonal in their team and reporting updates to management. Must adhere to Microchips guiding values. Limited travel: 10% or less. Physical Requirements: Good eye-hand coordination and dexterity. Ability to stand, sit, and walk for intervals. Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Education & Experience: Pursuing a BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Engineering/Science. Benefits
