The College of Business and Administration (https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=5607826&targetURL=https://business.uccs.edu/) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers in Career Exploration & Development (ROAR Program) from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.

The R.O.A.R. program prepares undergraduate College of Business students for their transition from college to career. This program focuses on career exploration, career planning, professionalism, networking, and mentorship, and consists of three phases: Find your ROAR, Refine your ROAR, and Ready to ROAR. Students are required to complete the phases in succession along with additional career development events and internships as a graduation requirement.

This position will teach classes in the areas of:

  • BAUD 3100 – ROAR Phase I

  • This course provides students with an understanding of their interests, skills, and values and helps them identify career pathways. Through research and self-assessment, students will learn about various career opportunities in business and develop a career plan.

  • BUAD 3200 – ROAR Phase II

  • This course provides students with opportunities to confirm their desired career pathway. This includes industry panels, informational interviews, and industry tours. Students will also learn the basics of resume writing, interview preparation, and internship/job search to ensure they are ready for experiential learning opportunities.

  • BUAD 3300 – ROAR Phase III

  • This course aids students in the transition from college to career. Students will engage in a variety of activities with industry experts to develop professionalism and networking skills.

Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid.

This is a revolving Lecturer Pool for the College of Business. If there is a course opening and your qualifications match a course and the minimum requirements, you may be contacted at that time.

Work Location: Determined by course modality (i.e., on-site if teaching an in-person course; remote if teaching an online course; or a combination of the two if teaching a hybrid course).

Remote work will be available for emergency events. This will be offered based on the emergency and allowance will come from leadership and the guidelines provided at the time of the emergency.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer

Salary Range: $3,000 - $5,000 for a 3-credit hour course. Pay rate is dependent upon (a) the number of courses taught, (b) the type of courses taught (e.g. undergraduate, graduate), and (c) the education level held by the lecturer.

Qualifications

Please note that while the position details both required qualifications as well as preferred qualifications below, we want applicants to be aware that they do not need to have all of the desired skills and experience to be considered for this position. Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed Master's degree in business, counseling, psychology, student affairs, or a closely related field.

  • At least one year of practice experience in student development or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A terminal degree (e.g. PhD, DBA, JD).

  • Prior and relevant teaching experience.

  • Ability or interest in teaching online classes.

  • Relevant industry experience that includes current engagement in professional activities.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move.

  • Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills.

  • Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
