Team (Project) Introduction

HBA (Heuristic Behavior Analytics) is a significant part of VA's overall defensive security strategy. The project will provide a tool and sensor baseline to support continual heuristic analysis of behaviors to identify anomalies by defining normal baselines of behavior and traffic patterns. HBA will also provide comprehensive visibility into data and traffic throughout the network. 9th Way Insignia Solutions has an opening for a Senior Systems Administrator to work in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology (OIT), Office of Information Security (OIS) on the Heuristic Behavior Analytics (HBA) implementation. This high-profile position serves as Insignia's primary point of contact and leads the day-to-day deployment and operations and maintenance (O&M) of the HBA technical baseline, ensuring that the HBA technical scope is delivered within budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

A Senior System Administrator has the thorough knowledge to create plans to assure effective management, operations, and maintenance of systems and/or networks. Manages teams of system admins and is able to prioritize work and identify high risk critical problems and dedicate appropriate resources. Has extensive knowledge of a wide variety of systems and networks to include high volume/high availability systems.

Responsibilities:

Install, configure, secure, and maintain Operating systems as well as a variety of Microsoft tools including but not limited to SharePoint, Office Suite, Teams, and SQL Databases.

Implement and test patches and OEM updates across multiple environments.

Monitoring of the Operating systems and installed applications

Assist with storage and systems backup.

Evaluating and implementing hardware and software deployments

Resolving security findings and security patches and updates to the operating systems and Microsoft apps

Provide recommendations and identify critical issues and processing faults as it pertains to the HBA environments.

Creating and updating reports pertaining to the operational status of the HBA systems

Communicating directly with VA Senior Leaders about the status of the HBA systems, ongoing projects, and operational issues Conducting a thorough analysis of each system to identify system shortcomings and anomalies.

Providing solutions to mitigate any discrepancies found in or er to enhance system performance and stability.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required.

5+ Years of experience. 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

Demonstrated ability to identify potential risks and create strategies for mitigating risks associated.

Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a government contracting environment.

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in data analysis, modeling, and integration.
