Wastewater Instrumentation Electrical and Control Technician-Senior

We are hiring a Wastewater Instrumentation Electrical and Control Technician Senior. In this job, you will support the Resource Recovery Facilities (RRFs) for Colorado Springs Utilities. The RRFs consist of 3 wastewater treatment plants including the Las Vegas Water Resource Reclamation Facility, JD Phillips Water Resource Recovery Facility, and Clear Spring Ranch Resource Recovery Facility. You would be responsible for installing, maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing a wide variety of electronic, instrumentation, control, and electrical systems, and equipment.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Install, calibrate, maintain, test, troubleshoot, tune, and repair electronic and mechanical equipment such as transmitters which include pressure, magnetic flow, and radar level, both electric and pneumatic actuators and positioners, communications equipment, controllers, PLC/DCS and HMI, and other instrumentation with an emphasis on Allen-Bradley and Emerson DeltaV products

  • Conduct electrical work to include maintaining and installing motor control centers, variable frequency drives (VFD), installing conduit, wire, and other electrical components

  • Conduct tests and calibrate various instrumentation and analyzers including pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, TSS, and chlorine

  • Install, tune, and calibrate microprocessor-based instrumentation and control system components

  • Design and integrate interfaces from new systems into existing controls

  • Develop, maintain, and upgrade various real-time process control computer systems, including database management, controls network, programming and configuring of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and human-machine interfaces (HMI)

  • Configure and troubleshoot Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Hart, and Ethernet networks

  • Prepare detailed reports and other documents

  • Utilize knowledge of pressure vessel or boiler operation and theory

Who you are….

A technically savvy candidate with demonstrated experience and strong expertise in troubleshooting, designing, repairing, and calibrating communication, instrumentation, and control systems, working on and installing related electrical equipment, and skill in electronic and electrical theories, including analog and digital principles, pneumatics and electro-mechanical equipment, optimizing the performance of control loops, and knowledge of water and wastewater system troubleshooting techniques

Organized and can utilize work management processes including planning, scheduling, processing of work orders, and supply chain management.

Proficiency in PLC/DCS and HMI programming, basic mathematics, algebra, and trigonometry, and knowledge of the National Electric Code will add to your success in this role.

  • Journeyman Electrician or an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology is strongly preferred

  • Rockwell Automation training or experience or Emerson DeltaV training is helpful
