An Electrical Engineering Lead at Nomad Global Communications Solutions will play a pivotal role in driving team performance and ensuring electrical engineering goals are met. This position involves leading a diverse team of 4-8 employees while fostering a collaborative and goal-oriented environment. The Electrical Engineering Lead will guide project design activities, facilitate effective communication of goals, and address any challenges that arise. By leveraging leadership skills and knowledge of electrical engineering processes, the Electrical Engineering Lead will coach team members to enhance their performance and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. This role is essential in ensuring electrical engineering design activities run smoothly and efficiently, ultimately supporting our mission to provide timely and effective communication solutions to our customers. The Electrical Engineering Lead must have strong power systems design, troubleshooting experience, and can collaborate with Engineers and Production staff in an efficient team environment. They and their teams are responsible for creating accurate, sensible, and consistent electrical layouts and/or schematics within set timelines to enable Production to succeed. All steps within this position’s construction must meet or exceed Nomad GCS’s standards of excellence.

Electrical Engineering Leadership:
Lead an Electrical Engineering team to ensure that productivity, efficiency, and electrical engineering goals are consistently met.
Identify challenges and develop solutions, working with Electrical Engineering Manager as needed.
Lead continuous improvement through the collection and analysis of the data for the electrical engineering team assigned.
Assist Electrical Engineering Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining electrical engineering standards and SOPs.
Review electrical engineering project schedules, identifying any staffing or resource needs, and presenting issues to the Electrical Engineering Manager as required.
Facilitate team meetings, communicate team goals and objectives, and monitor progress throughout.
Record and report on electrical engineering design progress, identifying and resolving issues in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Manager when necessary.
Monitor team performance, identify and address bottlenecks, and take corrective actions as required.
Work cooperatively with other departments to resolve challenges and achieve electrical engineering project objectives.
Provide coaching and development to team members to meet performance and professionalism expectations.
Ensure adherence to company policies, including the demonstration and enforcement of Nomad Core Values.
Essential Functions/Responsibility:
Lead a team of Electrical Engineers and/or Electrical Designers in the performance of the following:
Create complete electrical layout and/or schematics based on information from customer specifications, Mechanical Design Engineering (MDE) drawings, and other sources which requires.
Use of standard drawing templates.
An electronic database to track components, available wire, etc.
Calculations to track loads on each wire for correct sizing of generators and shore power, which includes balancing loads to each line.
Correctly label and size all wires, fuses, breakers, loads, etc.
Program spreadsheets to generate Bill of Materials (BOMs) for electrical components.
Communication with MDEs to identify and resolve differences between electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, and client requirements.
Create, implement, supervise, and document tests verifying designs meet customer requirements.
Complete all documentation and create schematics required for Production within established time frames as agreed upon by the Operations team.
Be responsible for ensuring that the correct documents are available to the correct teams in the company.
Communicate with Engineers, Project Management, and Production Leads to identify and implement improvement opportunities at the project level as well as a company level.
Communicate with vendors and clients to troubleshoot designs, get information on new designs, and obtain specifications of components.
Analyze proposed Change Orders and communicate their assessment of the proposed Change Orders:
effect upon the Project’s original design parameters.
effect upon the Project’s timeline and budget.
estimated time for completion of the change.
feasibility given the Project’s parameters as well as other project demands upon Engineering.
propagation of any downstream revisions to analyses and schematics in a timely manner.
Track and record work hours for each specific project daily.
Be willing to travel as needed by Management.
Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
Basic Knowledge Desired:
Understand the significance of the Nomad Core Values and apply them.
Understand electrical loads, fuses, wire capacities, resistors, diodes, relays, etc.
Provide documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, or equipment are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
Be knowledgeable about relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote the protection of people, data, property, and institutions to always promote a safe work environment.
Operate a variety of current tools to include, but not limit to capacitance meters, electronic measuring probes, frequency analyzers, frequency counters or time or dividers, microcontrollers, multi-meters, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, personal computers, plotter printers, power meters, signal generators, soldering iron, voltage or current meters, crimpers, hand tools, data-loggers, design software.
Be knowledgeable about Computer Aided Electrical Schematic Design software (CAD, SolidWorks).
Be comfortable and knowledgeable using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook). Abilities with Microsoft Access are also helpful.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and is frequently required to sit.
The employee may occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything heavier than 50 pounds will require two people to lift / carry.
Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.
Working Environment:
The work environment is a partially environmentally controlled indoor environment. Depending upon the time of year, temperatures can fluctuate between 60F and 100F but is typically around 70F. There are times when working outside will be required.
Typical indoor office environment, long periods of computer-related work, constant interruptions, and high levels of stress at times.
The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time, which will be provided.
The employee will be exposed to a variety of household/commercial chemicals that will require the employee to follow company rules/regulations outlined by that SDS.
All Team Members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times in manufacturing areas. The employee will be required to wear provided safety eyewear throughout the performance of their duties.
The employee is always expected to maintain a professional image and demeanor on company property or while representing the company off-site.
Qualifications & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; AS, AAS, BS in Electrical Engineering Technology (or similar field of study) or BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program strongly desired.
Minimum 3 years of work history related to engineering in a custom manufacturing or environment preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed may be substituted for the above requirements.
Experience with Computer Aided Electrical Schematic Design software (SolidWorks or similar) and file management.
