Robert Half Tax Manager in Columbia, Maryland

Description

As the Tax Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for our external tax firms and the internal tax compliance staff. You will manage a small, dedicated team, overseeing both tax planning and compliance functions. Your expertise will ensure that our tax strategies align with current regulations and support our overall financial goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Planning and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

  • Review and prepare federal, state, and local tax returns and related filings.

  • Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a small team of tax professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  • Coordinate and oversee the work of internal tax compliance staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • External Liaison:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for external tax firms, managing relationships and facilitating efficient communication.

  • Collaborate with external tax advisors to stay abreast of new tax laws and regulations.

  • Tax Audits and Inquiries:

  • Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, providing necessary documentation and responses.

  • Ensure timely resolution of any tax-related issues or disputes.

  • Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and review tax provision calculations and related financial statement disclosures.

  • Conduct thorough analysis of tax implications of business transactions and provide guidance to management.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax planning and compliance, with a strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws.

  • Proven experience managing a team and collaborating with external tax advisors.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
