The Department of Educational and Developmental Science at the University of South Carolina is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor position (9-month) in Special Education to begin Fall 2025. Applicants with research expertise related to academic, social, and behavioral interventions in special education, including gifted education and twice-exceptional learners, are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in gifted education and special education.
Job responsibilities include the following: (1) pursue a line of research leading to publication and external funding; (2) teach introductory, curriculum, and methods courses at the undergraduate and graduate level; (3) mentor doctoral students; and (4) provide program, department, college, and university committee service.
Advertised Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Candidates should have (1) an earned doctorate in special education, (2) evidence of 5 years’ experience working with children or youth with disabilities, (3) evidence of a focused scholarly agenda with the potential to secure extramural funding, (4) teaching experience in special education (including as a teaching assistant), and (5) the ability to teach courses related to gifted education and twice-exceptional learners. Applicants must exhibit proficiency and skills to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with faculty across the program, department, college, and university.
