WK Dickson Aviation Planner in Columbia, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include: managing projects for/and preparing airport layout plans, airport master plans, airspace analysis, land acquisition assistance, GIS analysis permitting, grant applications/management for airport projects, advising airport management operations, assistance with client management and marketing services to current and potential clients. We prefer this person to be located in our Columbia, SC, Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC offices.

  • Manage Aviation Planning Projects of various sizes.

  • Work closely with design engineers.

  • Market services to potential, current and former clients consistent with company goals and objectives.

  • Provide the Business Unit Leader and Practice Area Leaders with essential project information.

  • Develop scope, schedule, budget, and coordinate with internal and external subcontractors.

  • Assume primary responsibility for project profit and loss.

  • Utilize all technical resources to complete projects in an accurate, neat, and timely manner.

  • Establish and continuously monitor project budgets.

  • Review projects for submittal ensuring accuracy, neatness, and timeliness.

  • Assist in formulating plans, cost estimates, timeframes, and specifications of projects.

  • Represent firm and clients at various FAA and State Aviation Agency meetings.

  • Perform QC reviews and coordinate QA process in accordance with company policy.

  • Maintain positive communication and working relationship with staff, clients and subcontractors.

  • Mentor staff and insure adequate training.

  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.

  • Assist the Business Unit Leader and Practice Area Leaders with achieving company goals.

  • Insure adherence to company policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and rules.

    Job Requirements:

  • Must possess a BS Degree in physical/environmental planning, engineering, aviation management, or environmental science.

  • ArcGIS and Civil 3D experience is preferred

  • Six (6) to ten (10) years’ experience, Master's Degree from accredited planning or aviation management may be considered as experience.

  • At least half of experience should be in Project Management role.

  • PE or AICP (or ability to achieve) is preferred

  • Must have strong leadership skills with ability to mentor younger staff

  • Must have ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with project team and client

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
