The Manufacturing IT Leader is responsible for the overall IT service delivery at one or more CHVAC manufacturing sites. This role will work as the liaison between manufacturing site leadership and multiple IT service delivery teams to understand and prioritize IT demands, embed lean practices into IT service delivery, and deliver and support IT solutions that enable increasing competitiveness for our manufacturing operations. This position will also play a key role in leading the execution of Trane Technologies’ Digital Factory roadmap across CHVAC NA.

This position is based in our Columbia, SC manufacturing facility, and may oversee IT service delivery at additional manufacturing plants within the Trane Commercial Americas strategic business unit (SBU).

Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with functional leaders to align solutions with business strategies

  • Works with SBU IT, enterprise IT and external partners to support site deployments in areas such as ERP, MES, and digital factory program initiatives

  • Partners with operations leadership and IT to develop IT strategy supporting annual and long range plans

  • Aligns with SBU and enterprise standards across sites where applicable

  • Works with the Advanced Manufacturing Excellence and Advanced Manufacturing Technology teams to help lead development and execution of the Digital Factory roadmap

  • Deep expertise in the area of leading-edge MES, IoT and Manufacturing IT solutions, and be well-equipped to connect, configure, test and deliver the tools, processes and systems

  • Provides local IT project management and oversight

  • Responsible for the site’s overall IT service delivery and leads local IT resources (directly or indirectly) with solution and service delivery

  • Supports SBU and enterprise program initiatives

  • Supports local lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

  • Act as a change leader, incorporating industry benchmarks and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement

  • Support compliance of proposed solutions to Company IT standards

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering (or related technical discipline) is required. Master’s degree is a plus

  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing IT environment with a demonstrated history of success and progression, including experience leading a team

  • Project Management experience, PMP certification is a plus

  • Lean Six Sigma experience, Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification is preferred

  • Experience with manufacturing/shop floor applications and systems including MES/production execution, inventory/warehousing, quality and maintenance applications

  • Knowledge of Oracle ERP System preferred

  • Understanding of factory automation and machine integration preferred

  • Experience with onshore/offshore models for both projects and operations

  • Understanding and exposure to various elements of Industrial IoT such as sensors, SCADA methods, PLC protocols, data conversion, data broker architectures, and interrogation methods

  • Experience with process standardization (platforms, tools, standard work, training, etc.)

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills at all levels of the organization

  • Able to work safely in an industrial machinery environment

  • Overnight travel may be required to some of our North American facilities. Expected travel requirements average 5-10%

This role has been designated as Hybrid – Flex for your day . While most work must be done on-site, there is flexibility to work remotely when workflow and priorities allow. ​
