Job Summary:

The onsite Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) at Columbus Engine Center has an opening for a Project Engineer supporting the maturation of the Next Generation Product Family (NGPF) fleet.

The primary function of this position is to serve as an onsite extension of the cognizant CIPT(s), with secondary responsibilities as an engineering liaison representing Pratt & Whitney Engineering to the supported Disassembly, Assembly, and Test (DAT) network shops.

The CIPT Project Engineer will support various CIPTs responsible for various Geared Turbofan (GTF) hardware at the Columbus Engine Center (CEC) in Columbus, GA. This position is a key role within the CIPT as it provides a direct engineering link to the commercial aftermarket.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Engineering organizations as On-Site representative for the Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), with primary support to High Pressure Compressor (HPC) hardware group

  • Work closely with IPT members and authorities on hardware field investigations to drive root cause and recommend product improvements

  • Proactively monitor, characterize, and trend part condition data in support of durability, safety, limits expansion, and repair activities

  • Provide technical support to engine center operations through interpretation of technical data and communication of special engineering requests

  • Support engineering goals of improving Flight Safety, reducing Aircraft on Ground (AOG) occurrences, improving the GTF product, and maturing the PW1000G Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) network

  • Liaise between DAT, CTS, Engine Services, etc., regarding investigation scope and implementation. Prepare and present status and technical content to CIPT and upper Pratt & Whitney management.

  • Coordinate evaluation of customer inquiries and operational hardware non-conformances

  • Candidate should be customer focused, as well as, technically proficient and capable of communicating effectively to meet the needs of the CIPT

  • This role will include direct interfacing opportunities with engineering management, program management, aftermarket suppliers and DATs

  • 10% travel required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • 8+ years of experience in Engineering, Operations, Overhaul, and/or Program Management in the Aircraft Turbofan/Jet Engine industry OR 5+ years of experience with an Advanced degree

  • U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree and/or experience in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience in Turbofan Engine Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul shop environment

  • Experience with Engine Component Design or Repair Development

  • Experience with the Geared Turbofan/PW1100G product family

  • Experience with High Pressure Compressor Turbofan Hardware

  • Effective analytical problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills and the ability to function across a wide range of disciplines and management levels

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.)

  • A working knowledge of SAP, P&W Quality Systems, configuration management process

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
