Responsibilities Creates, labels, and manages research samples as indicted by requested processes ordered by Investigators through the Genomic Services Laboratory. Records information related to sample adequacy for testing in Lab Information Management System (LIMS). Serves as a point of contact and coordinator between accessioning, translational research, Genomic Services, and extractions. Interacts with external customers including PIs and other laboratories regarding sample exchange and labeling. Relays pertinent information necessary for completion of research testing. Maintains knowledge of status of projects as assigned to them. Demonstrates the ability to make determinations regarding course of action and alternatives for addressing problems by using resolutions and basic troubleshooting skills; able to resolve technical, computer, and customer service problems including those related to sample or patient information in lab databases. Able to perform all functions of sample/order receipt and accessioning, including follow up and documentation practices. Demonstrates the ability to adjust to change, handle interruptions, and function with flexibility in changing circumstances. Adheres to departmental quality control and safety guidelines; adheres to good clinical practices and good documentation practices (GDP) even when working with research specimens. Quality improvement and regulatory compliance tasks. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science; or a chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited institution with one to two years clinical laboratory/medical experience and office experience desired. Previous experience in samples receiving/order entry preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with both short and long-term deadlines. Provide courteous and informative internal and external customer service. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and computer experience Ability to work efficiently and independently in
