We are currently seeking a temporary full-time Material Science Co-op for Spring 2025. This position is located in Columbus, OH
Parker is seeking a Materials Science Co-Op to assist materials research in the Tube Fittings Division (TFD) of Parker Hannifin Corporation. The student will work closely with the Materials Science Engineer to support development of new products, quality, and processing improvement of current products.
Perform mechanical tests of a variety of properties including hardness, tensile, fracture toughnesset al.
Prepare and analyze metallographic samples for ferrous and non-ferrous alloys
Assist failure analysis on products from testing and field application
Conduct chemical analysis to measure the chemical composition of alloys
Collect, analyze, and summarize data to support professional test reports
Maintain a safe testing environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
Help with other miscellaneous engineering tasks
Undergraduate student, Sophomore status or greater, currently working towards a Bachelor's degree (or minor) in Material Science or related engineering disciplines
Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher
Experience in materials testing laboratory environment referred
Excellent communication and presentation skills ( written and verbal)
Ability to provide well organized and thorough summary and detail information on projects
Ability to interface with various levels of staff including engineers, management and other divisions
Ability to perform in a team environment
Must be a U. S. Citizen
