Sargent Electric Senior Project Manager - Midwest Utility in Columbus, Ohio

We are looking for an experienced SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER MIDWEST UTILITY in our Columbus, Ohio office.  As a Senior Project Manager at Sargent Electric Company, you'll lead construction projects within our industry-leading utility division, building on a company legacy of excellence since 1907. You will ensure projects meet the highest safety, quality, and efficiency standards on various job sites. Your role includes overseeing budgets, schedules, and resources, directly supervising teams, and maintaining clear client communication. By upholding our tradition of safety, quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications, you will contribute to Sargent Electric's continued success and industry leadership.

This position is based in our Columbus, Ohio office and requires regular travel to job sites in the Midwest.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Included, but are not limited to:

  • The overall successful management of assigned projects including budgets, schedules, resource and workforce allocation, communication and client satisfaction.

  • Direct supervision of all project assigned supervisory and other management/office staff.

  • Timely decisions and direction to ensure project profitability.

  • The proper utilization and management of Company-Owned and rented equipment.

  • Provide appropriate guidance and input into the development and updating of all project schedules, job cost and other management reporting.

  • Provide key input into the development and execution of all subcontracts, purchase orders, payment requisitions, proposals, etc.

  • If appropriate, review and approve all job site purchases.

  • Review and approve all key job site construction methods and practices.

  • Ensure the correct utilization and timely completion of all Company forms, reports, logs, as applicable, to track activities such as shop drawing submittals, request for information, field changes and change orders, purchase and delivery schedules

  • In the absence of other project staff, prepare monthly requisitions and submit in an accurate and timely manner to clients.

  • Prepare for timely submission all necessary monthly job cost and other financial reports.

  • Approve and phase accordingly payment invoices from vendors and other suppliers.

  • Provide all key communication with owners, clients and engineers.

  • Coordinate the utilization of resources and information with other Company personnel.

  • When appropriate, develop and effectively manage the use of back charges and change orders to protect the Company’s financial interests.

  • Support and provide assistance with various bidding and business development activities, when necessary.

  • Support all Company training and employee development activities and provide appropriate input and feedback, as necessary.

  • When appropriate, participate in, and actively support, all Company training, safety and management development initiatives.

  • Ensure that all work meets the highest standards of workmanship, and that all work and materials are in compliance with project specifications and drawings.

  • Manage all job close out procedures to ensure project and Company requirements are met.

  • Assume any additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by Sargent Electric Management.

    SKILLS:

  • Excellent written communication skills. Proficient with in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of diverse individuals.

  • Works efficiently under tight timeframes, responds to requests in a timely manner, and communicates effectively as a team player.

  • Ability to multi‐task in fast paced environment, including prioritizing activities, enhancing efficiencies and being organized

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Experience in High Voltage Substation, Distribution and Transmission project in the Midwest Utility market.

  • Minimum of 10 years of Project Management experience successfully completing multi-million dollar electrical construction projects.
