Job Summary
Entry level position assigned to support all routine aspects of material receiving, kitting, warehousing and shipping. Responsible for safe, efficient and organized inbound freight with a focus on the adherence to applicable Battelle policy and state, federal and international regulations (e.g. handling hazardous materials, international customs, controlled substances, etc.). This position works with contracted staff and resolves problems.
The position is located at our King Ave. location, however, you will be required to work out of our West Jefferson, OH campus.
Responsibilities
Performs routine unloading, sorting and packing of incoming materials (mail, supplies, etc.).
Stocks material in appropriate locations.
Kits job orders and delivers to manufacturing floor as directed.
Performs routine inventory cycle counts and inventory counts.
Prepares products for shipping and performs routine shipping of products to clients.
Unloads, sorts, receipts, and processes incoming and classified mail. Unloads, receipts, and issues non-priority air, UPS, motor freight, and local deliveries.
Identifies shipments requiring special storage or handling, while receipting and processing proper documentation, and notifies the proper internal staff or departments.
Identifies and separates chemicals for the database entry into the Chemical Inventory Tracking System.
Obtains quotes for services.
Performs desktop delivery of all inbound freight to high priority spots such as Accounts Payable, Legal, Executive offices, and Finance.
Performs daily visual inspection of trucks and equipment and performs minor repairs on equipment only.
Key Qualifications
One year of related experience.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills including MS Windows and Office.
Ability to operate pallet jacks and for lifts or ability to learn how to operate this equipment within a reasonable time period. Operating knowledge of pallet movers and various sized trucks as well as certification and licensing for forklift operation.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work overtime with 24 hours’ notice.
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearance(s).
May requires knowledge and certification of air and ground transportation regulations, hazardous materials, and radioactive safety procedures.
May require ability to continuously bend, lift, and transport up to 100 pounds during the work shift.
May require ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation Commercial Driver’s License with hazardous material endorsement.
May require ability to stand and walk up to 50% of the work shift.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in an ISO-9000 and/or a military logistics or defense contractor environment.
