The Role

A Wireless Solutions Architect is a thought leader, critical thinker, influencer and technical engineer for Lumen solutions in our Wholesale Wireless Overlay Team. This person will lead the development of 4G/5G emerging solutions to solve critical business challenges for our Wireless Service Providers and act as a key member of the Wholesale Wireless ecosystem. Acting as a technical design consultant and liaison to Sales, Sales Engineering, Product and Offer Management, the Wireless Solutions Architect is responsible for using a deep understanding of Wireless Architecture, business requirements, and industry trends to build a product and solution roadmap that will grow market share in Lumen’s expansive network footprint.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of RFP/proposal responses as well as proactive network designs, including the network mapping and design, that takes advantage of the Lumen network to optimize the business case and provide maximum benefit in support of other business strategies

  • Understanding of WSP network architectures, business strategies, execution model, frameworks and enabling technologies like RF, Spectrum, Wireless protocols, underlying Wireless network design, and network elements to drive engagement and thought leadership with the internal ecosystem that will deliver compelling solutions to our largest Wireless Service providers

  • Leads and facilitates understanding of WSP business needs and develops solution strategies based on knowledge of Wireless Architectures and use of the Lumen assets and capabilities

  • Communicate product vision and strategies, service capability, technology, and industry training to varied audiences, including executives and cross functional teams

  • Comfortable initiating and developing customer relationships at executive level and act as a customer advocate within Lumen to ensure exceptional customer experience

  • Proven ability to deliver both formal and informal presentations which effectively represent the capabilities of Lumen and the business value and ROI of service offerings proposed to customers

  • Effectively identify the use of or modification of additional generally available products in the Lumen portfolio that will enhance the delivery of the core Wireless solutions

  • Work with multiple advanced GIS tools (such as ESRI ArcMap) to aid in automated design and costing of Wireless network solutions while striving for continuous improvement of accuracy and expediency

  • Develop tools to enhance customer interaction that compel them to partner with Lumen for the evolution of their network

  • Maintains a deep understanding of Lumen’s product portfolio, roadmap and provides constantly provides feedback to improve product capability

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Minimum of 5 + years’ experience in technology engineering pre-sales or equivalent experience including Sales, Consulting or professional services and LTE/4G/5G proficiency

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field preferred

  • Minimum of 1 advanced technology domain certification. Multiple certifications preferred (CISSP, CCIE, AWS Solutions Architect, PMP, CISM, MCSE, etc.)

  • Highly skilled at leading customer collaboration, discovery, and whiteboard sessions to draw out technology solutions

  • Deep and wide understanding of IT concepts, wireless and wireline architectures, and processes, with experience supporting networking, hardware, cloud, or security technology domains

  • Demonstrated ability to establish lasting relationships with customers

  • Demonstrated experience in business strategies, execution model and technology enablement within one or more related domains to drive engagement and thought leadership with clients

  • Understanding of IT Infrastructure – specifically technologies such as networking, IT services, applications, security, and voice services

  • Strong competitive drive and tenacity

  • Excellent written, presentation and speaking skills
