Compensation Range:$123,400- $160,000
Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for planning safe and efficient production operations that meet company profit and customer delivery expectations. The Senior Operations Manager has significant bottom-line impact to the business, both in the short term, as well as strategically. The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for leveraging and expanding manufacturing competency to support the business's overall growth plan by meeting and exceeding customer expectations, and by defining, demonstrating and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Schedule manufacturing activities effectively to produce and deliver on-time
- Prepare contingency schedules to reduce impacts from resource deficiencies
- Review schedules with program management, manufacturing departments, production control, purchasing and engineering to ensure resource availability and on-time deliveries
- Work with Inventory Control, Purchasing and Suppliers to ensure adequate inventory to support production schedule
- Schedule production work orders to meet development date requirements
- Evaluate and assess productions capacity, cycle times, and through-puts to meet forecasts and demands
- Maintain high morale and sense of teamwork
- Review department work times, over-time, time-off, sick- time
- Review production schedules and adjust resourcing as needed
- Monitor equipment functionality and repair progress
- Assess staffing levels and labor hour demands, and initiate adjustments
- Work with other departments to facilitate development, technology and engineering projects are managed through production (Experience and skill in a matrix environment)
- Over-see facilities and maintenance operations
- Identify, evaluate and initiate cost reduction opportunities using 6-Sigma and Lean manufacturing concepts
- Maintain 5S principles and score of 3 or higher
- Hold regularly scheduled department meetings to review schedules, problems, performance results and trends
- Effectively communicate to personnel daily, schedules, assignments, problems and needed information
- Regularly update Program Management and GM of schedule statues and problems
- Communicate with customers as required, schedules, improvements, processes, capacities, capabilities
- Emphasize and re-enforce safety standards and procedures
- Review safety procedures for adequacy
- Provide key department metrics to the GM and other functions
- Clear understanding of Constraint Theory in manufacturing environment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- HS diploma required; Bachelor's in Engineering or related discipline preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in technical mixed high/low volume manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in managing special processes (i.e. spot weld, soldering, TIG, laser welding).
- Experience in qualifying production processes at product levels, including revision of process equipment.
- Experience in working in DOD, AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality environments for manufacturing and documentation
- Customer relationship experience in a DOD environment and experience solving and demonstrating data during failure analysis
- Knowledge in constraint theory for manufacturing
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Must have basic understanding and communication skills with Spanish.
Computer Skills
- Experience with M.S. Office and ability to learn legacy applications
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Minimal
- This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
- Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
