About the Position: Primary purpose of this position is to perform network services information technology specialist work for the Military Ocean Terminal Concord, (MOTCO) Ca. Work involves hardware and software installation, configuration and maintenance, monitoring and maintaining network control devices and resolving network problems Responsibilities Identify, report and resolve a variety of IT issues and problems; provide information and assistance to customers; execute established methods and procedures; and ensure the application of appropriate security measures. Install, configure, maintain, and modify hardware used in operating networks, which consists of Routers, VPN devices, Firewalls, Network Switches, and PCs. Execute technical solutions in data communication or system management requirements Perform established schedules and procedures to ensure optimum performance and availability of the system. Design and install of Networks and components, i.e., servers, workstations, media, topologies and connectivity devices. Configure and install new enterprise system hardware/software and associated equipment. Conduct testing to insure operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards. Monitor operation of enterprise systems/domain(s) and ensures that hardware and software are functioning properly. Responsible for protection measures such as file access controls, software and physical safeguards, and personnel and visitor control at central and remote sites. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience is defined as: Responding to customers help desk requests by providing software application updates. Providing guidance and/or training to customers to prevent operating system issues. Troubleshooting software/hardware malfunctions to resolve network system issues. OR Education Experience: Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from a nationally accredited university that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: of successfully completed education and specialized experience described above may be used to meet the total qualification requirements at the GS-11 level. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-09 grade (or equivalent). In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Key duties until relieved by proper authority. DoD IA Training & Certification Requirements: As part of the IA workforce, incumbent must obtain and maintain all DoD IA training and certification requirements according to DoD 8570.01-M and the certification provider. Within 6 months of assignment of IA duties, all IAT personnel must achieve the appropriate IA certification unless a waiver is granted per DoD 8570.01-M. Certification holders must ensure their certifications stay active; expired certifications must be renewed.
