Administrative Support Position Job Description
Position Title: Director of Campus Facilities
Reports To: Vice President for Administrative Services
Type of Contract: Full-Time, Professional Services
Length of Contract: 260 days 12 months
Date of Position Description: October 2024

GENERAL NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
The person holding this position will be responsible for directing and supervising
the maintenance and custodial services of all college facilities (main campus,
the presidents addition, the tech ed facility, housing, and grounds). The
person shall possess skills, knowledge, and direct experience pertaining to
HVAC systems; electrical and plumbing fixtures and equipment; basic carpentry;
welding techniques; concrete and asphalt repair and maintenance; and custodial
chemicals and methods. In addition, the person shall possess human relations
skills and the ability to supervise tactfully and equitably people with differing
personalities and abilities. The person shall hold a valid drivers license and can
acquire an electricians license (journeyman or master, plumbing, and HVAC
refrigerant), and/or provide experience working with electrical, plumbing, and
HVAC systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Supervisor of Facilities will:
1. Effectively and efficiently discharge the duties and responsibilities
assigned to this position; such duties may include, but are not limited to:
(1) the development and maintenance of budgets; (2) the supervision and
development of personnel within the areas of assigned responsibilities; (3)
the collection and dissemination of data and information (4) the promotion
of communications within the College community the community-at-large
(5) the participation in appropriate committees and work groups (6) the
participation in planning and decision making (7) the application of
institutional and governmental policies, procedures, and regulations (8)
the completion of other administrative responsibilities as appropriate or as
assigned;

2. Supervise the custodial services, repair, upkeep, security, and
maintenance of all facility buildings including campus housing and the
surrounding grounds;
3. Respond to facility emergencies and on-call situations at all hours as
required;
4. Recommend the hiring and termination of custodial staff and all facility
staff;
5. Supervise the evaluation the performance of custodial and facility staff
based upon the evaluation process of the College including staff assigned
to the campus housing staff;
6. Determine and oversee the scheduling of the working responsibilities of
custodial staff members based upon the needs of the College in order to
maximize both human and equipment resources;
7. Provide for the training of staff and document such training on safety
procedures as required by external agencies with jurisdiction;
8. Work along with custodial and facility staff in the absence of other staff or
as necessary;
9. Accompany inspectors as they inspect the facilities and prepare
recommendations for remedying noted problems and deficiencies;
10. Assist the Vice President for Administrative Services in preparing and
evaluating bids for goods and services utilized within the department;
11. Research and recommend to the Vice President for Administrative
Services capital improvements for the buildings and facilities;
12. Maintain for historical purposes the purchasing and inspection records as
they pertain to the buildings as directed by the Vice President for
Administrative Services;
13. Develop, implement, and follow procedures designed to ensure the
efficiency and integrity of the department;
14. Have the ability to work with diverse populations;
15. Interact cordially with coworkers to accomplish common tasks; and
