Position Description:

Position Summary: Responsible for quality standards, continuous improvement and compliance activities for a multi-temperature foodservice distribution center.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Quality Standards

  • Conduct monthly Self-Assessments of Distribution Center Quality Systems, Food Defense and Food Safety protocols. All assessment findings will be documented.

  • Lead monthly Quality Meetings. Meetings will include Self-Assessment Findings, Corrective Action Planning & Status, Awareness Review Training agenda and communication of new initiatives.

  • Manage process improvements and corrective action activity for quality programs, i.e. Continuous Temperature Monitoring, QCP Deviation Reduction, Supplier Meetings and corrective action development.

  • Communicate with the Distribution Center Management Team and outside vendor(s) regarding quality initiatives, required training and developed corrective actions.

  • Point person for controlling quality related documentation and communications. Responsible for maintaining the Distribution Center document submission schedule and training.

  • Point person for the Distribution Center's Crisis Management, Product Recovery and CPlan coordination. This would include facilitating exercises and documentation revisions.

  • Perform DQMP Self-Assessments and coordinate related on site assessments and audits.

  • Review all data from routes equipped with continuous monitoring equipment to ensure temperature compliance.

  • Record and report all product quality issues including temperature deviations, product damage, and product not meeting visual expectations using the appropriate tracking records (QIP Plus).

  • Trend quality complaints from customers using company software programs, analyze and report on top 5 quality issues by month and quarter.

  • Communicate any noticeable trends in regards to product quality.

  • Monitor sanitation and building maintenance activities related to quality systems, including updating and maintaining all required documents.

  • Inspect all in-bound shipments to ensure the highest standard of product quality.

  • Meet monthly with Food Defense Team to review compliance of all quality standards

  • Continuous Improvement

  • Provide training, track and implement corrective action or process improvement initiatives.

  • Leads the planning, direction and coordination of lean operational techniques and support justification for alternate methods to reduce costs.

  • Provide process improvement techniques that focus on optimizing value through a fact-based decision process.

  • Ensures project development objectives, goals, measures and metrics are established.

  • General Compliance

  • Implement safety policies and develop procedures to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

  • Development and implementation of internal self-audits and inspections, analyze data, and maintain current records in regards to potential outside audits.

  • Active safety committee member for food safety and security

  • Distribution Center lead on audits such as OSHA, DQMP, Silliker, SMP, DOT, SQI, & ISO

  • Provide training on regulatory requirements and processes as needed.

  • Conducts accident investigations, data analysis and reoccurrence prevention programs and procedures

  • Responds to and provides assistance to emergency situations. Maintains required level of certification.

  • Complete PRIDE Reporting and ensure for accuracy

  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1-2 years related experience

  • Self-motivated and disciplined team player

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Sound organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize and multi-task to ensure deadlines are met

  • Precision-oriented

  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and focus on results

  • Professional self-presentation

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite with intermediate Excel skills

  • Willing to work any shift and any schedule due to our 24/7 environment

  • Knowledge of process improvement principles and tools

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • College degree in business related field

  • Expert level MS Excel Skills

  • Experience with Enterprise Management tools (JD Edwards, Syntellic, XATA, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of customer standards of QIP, Silliker and HACCP.

  • Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management System)

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, lean operations, and product traceability

  • Working knowledge of OSHA and DOT rules and regulations

  • Previous supervisory experience
