POSITION SUMMARY:
Based in Little Island, Cork, the Lead Design Engineer is responsible for engineering work in applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, and documentation of products or systems. Works with customers to understand equipment/system requirements and to ensure that the product(s) work in the application(s). Uses research techniques to analyze and validate design or theory concepts. Provides direction and leadership to engineers and engineering technicians related to program specific work. Interacts with senior level professionals both internal and external to AE.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the design and analysis of systems, products, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.
Responsible to diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions to address
Assumes responsibility for the success of the product/system in the customers' applications and recommend/implement corrective actions as needed
Follows key engineering procedures including the Product Development Process and ECO process
Implement best practices within a cross function design team to support appropriate level of process and review of the design process
Work with our Advanced Development team to review technology readiness to launch new products
Work with other cross functional teams such as our NPI, purchasing, quality, program & project management, finance, safety, production, and other teams as needed
Builds peer to peer relationships within AE
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Location: Little Island, Cork, Ireland
Environment: Standard office environment; uses electronic equipment and can work with high voltage
Some domestic and international travel may be required * *
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Proven professional skills as an experienced engineer with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies/procedures
Able to receive less instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
Ability to solve complex technical problems independently
Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
Good verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead team members
Experience with influencing and negotiating in complex situations
Proven track record of getting products to market and providing technical leadership.
Be a creative problem solver with a focus on quality, safety, cost, and delivery schedules.
Strong team player skills and attitude.
Grounded in theory but also hands-on.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 8 years’ experience in related industries
Medical power electronics
Previous Roles: Show a progression of technical responsibilities, creation of IP
EDUCATION:
A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or similar) technical degree
Advanced degree preferred
