TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION E280 Transportation Engineer I, II, III, IV - Central Design in Corpus Christi, Texas
Performs transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer IPerforms and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications Estimates (PSE) submission, special specifications or special provisions.Performs engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Reviews and revises schematics, PSE, project designs, shop drawings and field changes for traffic control devices, signals, signs, markings, detours, traffic control plans, electrical distribution and roadway lighting and traffic management systems.Reviews shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, supplemental agreements and change order requests.Writes/reviews proposals and estimates for letting.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IIIn addition to the above:Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Trains engineering staff.Updates, reviews, monitors, and/or reviews requests for changes to plans, manuals and/or standard sheets.Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications Estimates (PSE) submission, special specifications or special provisions.Reviews and revises schematics, PSE, project designs, shop drawings and field changes for traffic control devices, signals, signs, markings, detours, traffic control plans, electrical distribution and roadway lighting and traffic management systems.Reviews shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, supplemental agreements and change order requests.Writes/reviews proposals and estimates for letting.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IIIIn addition to the above:Performs advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications Estimates (PSE) submission, special specifications or special provisions.Reviews and revises schematics, PSE, project designs, shop drawings and field changes for traffic control devices, signals, signs, markings, detours, traffic control plans, electrical distribution and roadway lighting and traffic management systems.Reviews shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, supplemental agreements and change order requests.Trains engineering staff.Updates, reviews, monitors, and/or reviews requests for changes to plans, manuals and/or standard sheets.Writes/reviews proposals and estimates for letting.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IVIn addition to the above:Monitors contract performance, evaluates contract deliverables, reviews billing documentation, monitors the consultant's compliance with the terms of the contract, and/or prepares and delivers a written evaluation of the consultant's performance.Performs highly advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications Estimates (PSE) submission, special specifications or special provisions.Reviews and revises schematics, PSE, project designs, shop drawings and field changes for traffic control devices, signals, signs, markings, detours, traffic control plans, electrical distribution and roadway lighting and traffic management systems.Reviews shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, s pplemental agreements and change order requests.Trains engineering staff.Updates, reviews, monitors, and/or reviews requests for changes to plans, manuals and/or standard sheets.Writes/reviews proposals and estimates for letting.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
