Sandblaster

JOB DIMENSIONS:

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, sets up and operates sandblasting machine; and performs other duties as assigned.

###

Reports to:

Assembly Manager

###

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receives parts;
• Picks up parts with forklift from degreaser;
• Operates sandblaster to sandblast parts;
• Fills washing machine reservoir with water;
• Checks sand levels;
• Controls air pressure;
• Blows parts clean with air gun;
• Sets parts outside sandblast booth;
• Tapes threads using heat resistant tape for thread protection;
• Plugs openings prior to sandblasting surfaces;
• Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
• Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Experience/Training/Education:

Some experience operating sandblasting or related painting equipment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to read and interpret painting instructions;
• Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with co-workers;
• Ability to operate forklift truck;
• Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
• Knowledge of material specifications and sandblasting methods and techniques; and
• Ability to follow safety regulations and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time;
• Ability to lift, move, and carry materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or less;
• Ability to reach, bend, lean, and stretch in order to sandblast various surfaces; and
• Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;

Special Requirements:

Appropriate company certification as a forklift operator.
